Public agencies are becoming proactive when it comes to subrogating suppression costs of wildland fires. Pie has been hired on multiple occasions to investigate wildfires in which public agencies were looking to subrogate against corporations or even individuals. The wildfire problems of the United States continue to plague homeowners, firefighters, and insurers. Beginning in 2006 and ending in 2008 there were over 259,000 wildfires reported in the U.S. resulting in 24.3 million acres consumed. Suppression costs alone are billions of dollars not to mention property losses. The impact on the insurance industry continues to rise at an exponential rate. Wildfire investigations have become more sophisticated over the last few decades. The question--where does one start when investigating a 50,000 acre wildfire is a daunting one.
Eden Prairie, Minnesota (December 05, 2011) – Pie Forensic Consultants (Pie) was recently contracted to provide building enclosure commissioning services (BECx) for the new University of Arkansas Football Center.
Pie is working in conjunction with the MEP commissioning agency, Comfort Systems USA (www.csusaenergyservices.com), to provide design review, preconstruction quality assurance, and performance testing services for the new 80,000-square-foot facility. Populous Architecture (www.populous.com) is designing the football center.
The modernized football center will feature a new locker room, team meeting rooms, athletic training room, equipment room, a student-athlete lounge and study area, coaches' offices, a recruiting reception area and a football museum celebrating the history and tradition of Razorback football.
"We are excited to be part of such a distinguished project team in this high-profile project. The green roof system, which includes vegetation over a waterproofing membrane with a practice field, and unique roof design, presents interfacing challenges that will be addressed in our BECx program to provide the University of Arkansas a high-performing football center to be enjoyed for decades to come,” Brian Erickson, P.E., RRC, Pie Minnesota Regional Manager.
