Our building science services include: new construction building enclosure commissioning and retro-commissioning, design phase consultation and review, on-site quality assurance observations large, building air barrier testing with infrared diagnostics, fenestration and curtain wall air and water field performance testing, and forensic evaluations. Pie is currently consulting on US Army Corp of Engineers projects throughout the U.S.

Pie to Provide BECx for University of Arkansas Football Center
Eden Prairie, Minnesota (December 05, 2011) – Pie Forensic Consultants (Pie) was recently contracted to provide building enclosure commissioning services (BECx) for the new University of Arkansas Football Center.
Pie is working in conjunction with the MEP commissioning agency, Comfort Systems USA (www.csusaenergyservices.com), to provide design review, preconstruction quality assurance, and performance testing services for the new 80,000-square-foot facility. Pie Performs Field Testing for New Colorado Judicial Center
Arvada, Colorado (November 10, 2011) – Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie) recently began multi-phase field performance testing on the all-new Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Complex (CJC) in downtown Denver.
Construction of the complex was undertaken by Mortenson Construction with Trammell Crow Company serving as financial developer, and Fentress Architects serving as the project architect.

Minneapolis, Minnesota (October 14, 2011) – Pie Consulting & Engineering Consultant’s, Brian Erickson, P.E., RRC, recently presented at the 2011 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Toronto, Canada on the importance of high-performing building envelopes.

Cherrity Festival Raises Hopes, Funds for Anchor Center
Arvada, Colorado (October 13, 2011) – Local businesses and community members alike came together on September 17, 2011 to celebrate the first-annual Cherrity Pie Festival benefitting Anchor Center for Blind Children.

Pie Consulting & Engineering Begins Fort Hood Replacement Hospital Project
Arvada, Colorado (September 7, 2011) – Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie) recently began building enclosure consulting services on the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood located outside of Killeen, Texas.
The $503-million, 947,000 square-foot replacement hospital, a Balfour Beatty/McCarthy Joint Venture, aims to completely replace an existing 45-year-old army medical center. (read more...)

Arvada, Colorado (August 3, 2011) – Pie Consulting & Engineering Consultants (Pie) announced that the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) awarded Pie a five-year GSA Federal Supply Schedule 871 contract in the following areas: 871-3: System Design, Engineering & Integration; 871-4: Test & Evaluation; and 871-7: Construction Management.

Pie Announces First Annual "Cherrity Pie Festival"

Arvada, Colorado (March 30, 2011) – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) recently published its 2012 P100 general specifications policy entitled, “Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service,” which now incorporates expanded air barrier requirements. Specifically, whole building air barrier testing has been included as part of the building program for the Public Buildings Service (PBS). The requirement signals a bold new direction for GSA policy with more focus on building enclosure standards and a broader commitment to energy conservation. (read more...)

Pie Professionals Receive OSHA Construction Certification

awareness training for working on construction sites as well as in highway construction

Pie Consulting & Engineering Amplifies International Presence with Marshall Islands Testing
Arvada, Colorado (October 26, 2012) – Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie) augmented its international services by successfully completing building air tightness testing and repair consultation on a 87,000 square-foot 1960s-era facility located in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The federal project for Building 5050 on Meck Island, Kwajalein Atoll, focused exclusively on evaluating the airtight performance of the command/control building envelope for the purposes of mitigating potentially unacceptable levels of airborne contaminants from reaching the building interior during missile launches.(read more...)

Arvada, Colorado (February 6, 2008) – Bradley Stolz, a traffic accident reconstructionist and forensic engineer with Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie), received certification from the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) in January 2008. The ACTAR accreditation process, developed through a grant provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, requires the applicant to pass a rigorous 8-hour examination. Slip and Fall Continuing Education Class
Arvada, Colorado (September 27, 2007) – Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie) has hired a professional stuntman to demonstrate cases of personal injury to its clientele. The stuntman, who has performed in several professional films, will be exhibiting actual slip, trip, and fall cases at Pie’s Continuing Education class on October 10, 2007. Pie's vehicle collision reconstruction expert Brad Stolz was published in the National Association of Subrogation Professionals' June issue of Subrogator. The publication has an average circulation of 15,000 and is read by claims managers as well as subrogation attorneys and professionals. Mr. Stolz's article featured information on the technological advancements within vehicle accident reconstruction as related to Global Positioning Systems and other tracking devices.

Pie's Air Barrier Testing Featured in BASF Case Study
Pie Consulting & Engineering' expertise in the Air Barrier Testing arena was recently recognized within a BASF case study on the testing and performance of 24 UEPH barracks at Ft. Bliss, Texas. "Pie Consulting & Engineering conducted the first building
performance testing and diagnostic evaluations of one
of these UEPH barracks on April 14, 2012; subsequently,
Pie has tested all 24 UEPH barracks for the project. All
24 of the UEPH’s not only passed during the first
round of testing, but far surpassed the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers requirement."
